Our Companion Journey group has been working on an event to recognize this day of remembrance for every indigenous person who has experienced any form of trauma as a result of residential schools and the impact these schools still have on indigenous culture. It has come to our attention that there are many similar events planned for the Greater Victoria area on September 30th and the days immediately before and after. We are aware that some of our congregation will be attending these events and would not be able to attend another event at Holy Trinity to honour the   First Nations and residential school survivors.

For this reason we have decided not to hold an event at Holy Trinity for this year.

We invite you to wear an orange shirt on September 30th and to take time to remember the survivors, their families, and all First Nations people; and to attend one of the planned events during the days around Orange Shirt Day.   Paul+
